PROGRAMS IN URBAN MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE

Cities are complex entities, and their sustainable planning, development and management entails a multi-dimensional understanding of the ways in which people, resources and private and public resources intersect in space, to produce places and flows. To develop and manage livable, adaptive and citizen-centered cities, a specialized cadre of professionals are therefore required. Urban managers must be equipped with an understanding of the dynamics of urban areas and city development, the capacities to analyse urban issues, and the skills to design and apply sustainable and inclusive systems and practices. Continuous research to improve our understanding and innovate effective solutions to the emerging challenges is also necessary, and competent researchers and academics are required to engage in this domain.
